Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

ValueB

TradesA+
FutureA+
A passer of the future in Maye, and a A-, for the Bears. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Bears committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. However the rest shakes out, Carson at that price is a win they earned.
Spending an early pick on DT-EDGE with interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In the 8th pick they get their guy under center for the next decade. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick26
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
They did well to land Terrion Arnold in No. 26, just ahead of his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick47
Rnd2
Chop Robinson
A slide stopped in the 47th overall pick, with Chop Robinson worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick66
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
No edge and no loss on Javon Bullard in pick 66; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick67
Rnd3
Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the Round 3 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick75
Rnd3
Maason Smith
They bypassed pressing needs at interior defensive lineman, running back and other spots to take Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE that was not the priority.
Pick89
Rnd3
Caelen Carson
Caelen Carson at pick No. 89 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick97
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran at pick 97 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick125
Rnd4
Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent at the Round 4 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
