Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Saints
Overall
B-
ValueB+
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Saints kept it disciplined and banked a B-. The Saints clearly saw something nobody else did in Que Robinson, taking him 68 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
They banked enough surplus on Warren to cover a lot of smaller sins. That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In the 9th pick they get an anchor for the defensive front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
The board fumbled Tyler Warren all the way to pick 40, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick71
Rnd3
Barrett Carter
They paid up for Barrett Carter at the 71st overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick93
Rnd3
Will Howard
A reach on Will Howard in pick No. 93; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick111
Rnd4
Ozzy Trapilo
Circle this one: Ozzy Trapilo at Round 4, Pick 10 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick130
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo at slot 130 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick186
Rnd6
Que Robinson
Que Robinson at No. 186 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick254
Rnd7
Jarquez Hunter
They barely believed it either: Jarquez Hunter still on the board at the Round 7 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
