Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Bills: B-.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Bills spent No. 204 on Julian Fleming, a name most had 80 spots down the list.

The Mondon Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 JT Tuimoloau
In the 30th overall pick they get a problem off the edge, a steep price for the projection.
Pick62 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Taking Nick Emmanwori in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick63 Rnd2 Deone Walker
Deone Walker in slot 63 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick95 Rnd3 Tez Johnson
No drama and no debate, Tez Johnson went about where he belonged in the 95th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick107 Rnd4 Azareye'h Thomas
They read the board right and Azareye'h Thomas was the payoff at pick 107. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick130 Rnd4 Emery Jones Jr.
A real head-scratcher, Emery Jones Jr. in Round 4, Pick 29 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick169 Rnd5 Oronde Gadsden II
They will replay Oronde Gadsden II at pick No. 169 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick172 Rnd5 Kalel Mullings
Steal is underselling it; Kalel Mullings at Round 5, Pick 35 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick175 Rnd5 Smael Mondon Jr.
They barely believed it either: Smael Mondon Jr. still on the board at slot 175. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick202 Rnd6 Miles Frazier
Miles Frazier at the 202nd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick204 Rnd6 Julian Fleming
Julian Fleming at the Round 6 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
