Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Cowboys turned the phones into found money: B+.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Cowboys spent the Round 7 slot on Shilo Sanders, a name the board had a full 44 spots lower. No fireworks, but a solid B+.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Landing Blue that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Cowboys clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
In pick No. 20 they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick50 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
They robbed the room for Omarion Hampton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick51 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins in No. 51 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick76 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
By-the-book stuff, Andrew Mukuba at pick 76 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick85 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
Nothing to complain about; Ozzy Trapilo went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick92 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
Good price on Danny Stutsman in slot 92, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick149 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
A wild overpay on Willie Lampkin in Round 5, Pick 11, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick174 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They went early on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 174th pick, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jaydon Blue
A running back of that caliber at No. 204 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick211 Rnd6 Drew Kendall
A slide stopped in the 211th overall pick, with Drew Kendall worth more than the price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick217 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
A reasonable price with a little left over, Luke Lachey in pick No. 217. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick223 Rnd7 Jason Marshall Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jason Marshall Jr. in slot 223. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick239 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick247 Rnd7 Shilo Sanders
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Shilo Sanders well ahead of where he belonged. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
