Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Cowboys fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B+.

Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Cowboys came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.

If Conner pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Omarion Hampton
In pick No. 23 they get an every-down engine for the run game, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at the 44th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick76 Rnd3 Savion Williams
They paid a round early for Savion Williams in No. 76, more than the board wanted. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick87 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Fair-plus on Andrew Mukuba, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick117 Rnd4 Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke in Round 4, Pick 15 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jack Kiser
A reach on Jack Kiser in the Round 5 slot; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick204 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 204th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick211 Rnd6 Carson Vinson
The board had cheaper options than Carson Vinson at pick 211, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick239 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at Round 7, Pick 23 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick247 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa slid further than he should have, and pick No. 247 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
