You build a draft on nights like this. Darius Alexander had no business being available in pick No. 171, and the Bills did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

Reaching for Buchanan left real value on the table behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with linebacker the one that mattered most.

They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
