Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Bills and Fannin Jr.: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Bills watched Harold Fannin Jr. slide 79 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Reaching for Truss left real value on the table behind him. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In pick 30 they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick56 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Taking Nick Emmanwori in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick62 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in pick No. 62 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick108 Rnd4 Tez Johnson
A tidy bit of business in the 108th pick, where Tez Johnson graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick131 Rnd4 Harold Fannin Jr.
They barely believed it either: Harold Fannin Jr. still on the board at the 131st overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick171 Rnd5 Sebastian Castro
They will replay Sebastian Castro at Round 5, Pick 32 for years; that is how good the value is. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick175 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
You do not let an offensive lineman like Luke Kandra reach No. 175 and blink. They did not. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick179 Rnd6 Kalel Mullings
Steal is underselling it; Kalel Mullings at slot 179 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick206 Rnd6 Xavier Truss
A wild overpay on Xavier Truss in pick No. 206, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick208 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 208 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
