Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The Browns got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the B-.

The Browns bet big and early on Eric Gentry, 109 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. However the rest shakes out, Trigg at that price is a win they earned. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In pick 18 they get a No. 1 receiver, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick24 Rnd1 Monroe Freeling
They talked themselves into Monroe Freeling at slot 24, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick39 Rnd2 Brandon Cisse
A tidy little value on Brandon Cisse in the 39th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick70 Rnd3 Sam Hecht
Sam Hecht at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick107 Rnd4 Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis at Round 4, Pick 7 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick139 Rnd5 Drew Allar
No edge and no loss on Drew Allar in No. 139; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick144 Rnd5 Michael Trigg
Michael Trigg at pick No. 144 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick147 Rnd5 Malik Benson
The board had Malik Benson higher than the 147th overall pick, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick149 Rnd5 Jalen Stroman
Jalen Stroman in No. 149 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick204 Rnd6 Zxavian Harris
They paid up for Zxavian Harris at slot 204 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick248 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Eric Gentry. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
