Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Raiders robbed the room for Klubnik. Final grade: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Raiders watched Cade Klubnik slide 44 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

Smith has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
In pick No. 6 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick37 Rnd2 Garrett Nussmeier
Garrett Nussmeier at No. 37 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick68 Rnd3 Will Lee III
They paid a round early for Will Lee III in Round 3, Pick 4, more than the board wanted. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick106 Rnd4 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley in the 106th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick114 Rnd4 Cade Klubnik
Somehow Cade Klubnik was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick135 Rnd4 Austin Romaine
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Austin Romaine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick173 Rnd5 Darius Taylor
No edge and no loss on Darius Taylor in the 173rd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick182 Rnd6 CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels in slot 182 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick220 Rnd7 James Smith
This one needs a full-page explanation: James Smith in the 220th overall pick, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
