Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B-

The Cowboys kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Cowboys did exactly that with Jermari Harris in pick 204.

They banked enough surplus on Tuten to cover a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 James Pearce Jr.
James Pearce Jr. at the 12th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick44 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
A clean, defensible pick in slot 44 with a little surplus value in Tyleik Williams. The roster fit checks out.
Pick76 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
A premium they did not need to pay, Danny Stutsman a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick149 Rnd5 Damien Martinez
A straight-up fair deal on Damien Martinez at the Round 5 slot, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick171 Rnd5 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten at pick No. 171 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed at Round 5, Pick 36 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jermari Harris
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jermari Harris. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick211 Rnd6 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at the 211th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick239 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
They liked Zeek Biggers enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 7 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick247 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Value said wait; Hayden Conner in the 247th pick says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
