Adam0831 DRAFTING FOR THESteelers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Steelers won the night they stopped Klare from sliding. Grade: B-. When a board-topper like Max Klare slides to the 84th overall pick, you do not overthink it, and the Steelers did not. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Capehart pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Gennings Dunker
By-the-book stuff, Gennings Dunker at pick No. 20 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick52
Rnd2
Germie Bernard
No drama and no debate, Germie Bernard went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick77
Rnd3
Cade Klubnik
They liked Cade Klubnik enough to skip the value, taking him in the 77th overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick84
Rnd3
Max Klare
Max Klare at slot 84 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick99
Rnd3
Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton at the 99th pick is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick120
Rnd4
Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at No. 120. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick134
Rnd4
DeMonte Capehart
A conviction pick on DeMonte Capehart at pick 134 that the board grades a round light. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick159
Rnd5
Davison Igbinosun
They paid sticker price for Davison Igbinosun in Round 5, Pick 20, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick214
Rnd6
Miller Moss
Miller Moss in pick 214 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick215
Rnd6
Amare Campbell
Amare Campbell in Round 6, Pick 34 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick224
Rnd7
Nolan Rucci
Nolan Rucci at No. 224 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick236
Rnd7
Cayden Lee
They did well to land Cayden Lee in slot 236, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
