FutureA
Best value of the weekend goes to the Jets for Fifita: B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Noah Fifita tumbling to the Jets in slot 240 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
Tuliaupupu has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick10
Rnd1
T.J. Parker
T.J. Parker at slot 10 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick18
Rnd1
Makai Lemon
In the 18th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick35
Rnd2
Garrett Nussmeier
Garrett Nussmeier at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick45
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. in the 45th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick87
Rnd3
Malik Muhammad
A slide stopped in pick No. 87, with Malik Muhammad worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick105
Rnd4
Caleb Tiernan
Caleb Tiernan in pick 105 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The roster fit checks out.
Pick110
Rnd4
Carson Beck
Fair-plus on Carson Beck, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick176
Rnd5
Gracen Halton
Gracen Halton at Round 5, Pick 37 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick178
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
Xavier Nwankpa in pick 178 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick196
Rnd6
Quinten Joyner
They went early on Quinten Joyner in the 196th pick, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick205
Rnd6
Shamar Easter
They jumped the gun on Shamar Easter, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick212
Rnd6
Trebor Pena
Trebor Pena at Round 6, Pick 31 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick220
Rnd7
Pat Coogan
A premium they did not need to pay, Pat Coogan a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick240
Rnd7
Noah Fifita
Noah Fifita at pick No. 240 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick255
Rnd7
Da'Shawn Womack
They reached into another round for Da'Shawn Womack, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick257
Rnd7
Solomon Tuliaupupu
Solomon Tuliaupupu at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
