Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Browns, and a B- to prove it.

The Roman Hemby pick is the one that will follow the Browns into the fall. They took him 24 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. On value alone, Lemon makes the weekend a net positive. On the needs board they went 6 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Spencer Fano
In pick No. 6 they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick24 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
In the Round 1 slot they get a matchup problem out wide, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
Olaivavega Ioane at the 39th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick70 Rnd3 Lee Hunter
A straight-up fair deal on Lee Hunter at slot 70, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick107 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
They paid sticker price for D'Angelo Ponds in Round 4, Pick 7, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick139 Rnd5 Kyle Louis
They took Kyle Louis at par in pick 139, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick144 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
They jumped the gun on Aaron Graves, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick147 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
A premium they did not need to pay, DJ Campbell a notch or two before his time. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick204 Rnd6 Luke Altmyer
Fair-plus on Luke Altmyer, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248 Rnd7 Roman Hemby
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Roman Hemby well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
