VINNNYYY1203 DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

FutureB-
The 49ers robbed the room for Hart. Final grade: B. The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Cam Hart, pick No. 213, roughly 33 picks past where he belonged.
They will answer for taking cornerback early while running back, interior defensive lineman and other spots went begging. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Reaching for Foster left real value on the table behind him. Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
JC Latham
In slot 27 they get an anchor for the offensive line at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick59
Rnd2
Cooper DeJean
A tidy little value on Cooper DeJean in Round 2, Pick 27, a step better than break-even. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick90
Rnd3
Ladd McConkey
Taking Ladd McConkey in No. 90 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick98
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in the 98th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick127
Rnd4
Max Melton
They bypassed pressing needs at running back, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take Max Melton, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick177
Rnd6
Bryce Foster
The board had cheaper options than Bryce Foster at the Round 6 slot, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick205
Rnd6
Keith Randolph Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Keith Randolph Jr. at pick 205 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick213
Rnd6
Cam Hart
They will replay Cam Hart at pick No. 213 for years; that is how good the value is. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick215
Rnd6
Isaiah Adams
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaiah Adams at Round 6, Pick 40. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick248
Rnd7
Devin Leary
They paid sticker price for Devin Leary in No. 248, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
