FutureA+
The Falcons lost the trade table, and the D tells the story. The Cooper Mays pick is the one that will follow the Falcons into the fall. They took him 59 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. A D that will need time and luck to look better.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Ransom pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots.
The Harris steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Malaki Starks
In pick No. 19 they get a downhill hitter at safety, even if it was a touch early. More want than need.
Pick33
Rnd2
Donovan Ezeiruaku
Value said wait; Donovan Ezeiruaku in the 33rd overall pick says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick46
Rnd2
Tre Harris
They paid sticker price for Tre Harris in Round 2, Pick 14, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick53
Rnd2
Carson Schwesinger
The board had cheaper options than Carson Schwesinger at No. 53, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick54
Rnd2
Ozzy Trapilo
A real head-scratcher, Ozzy Trapilo in pick 54 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick118
Rnd4
Lathan Ransom
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Lathan Ransom adds a safety and leaves quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots untouched.
Pick218
Rnd7
Alijah Huzzie
Good price on Alijah Huzzie in the 218th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick226
Rnd7
Brant Kuithe
Brant Kuithe in No. 226 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick237
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
No drama and no debate, Isaac TeSlaa went about where he belonged in Round 7, Pick 21. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick242
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris is a better player than the 242nd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick251
Rnd7
Cooper Mays
Cooper Mays at slot 251 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
