Jorgefabrega22 DRAFTING FOR THESaints
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Saints
Overall
B

FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Saints: B. The Saints clearly saw something nobody else did in Austin Reed, taking him 35 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
Getting Torrence where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Rome Odunze
In Round 1, Pick 14 they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick45
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 45, where Jordan Morgan graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick150
Rnd5
Sataoa Laumea
They robbed the room for Sataoa Laumea here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick168
Rnd5
Tykee Smith
Value with a capital V on Tykee Smith in the 168th overall pick, a genuine coup. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick170
Rnd5
Grayson Murphy
By-the-book stuff, Grayson Murphy at slot 170 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick175
Rnd5
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs at pick 175 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick190
Rnd6
Kendall Milton
Kendall Milton at the 190th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick199
Rnd6
Ro Torrence
The board fumbled Ro Torrence all the way to the Round 6 slot, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick239
Rnd7
Austin Reed
Austin Reed at Round 7, Pick 19 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
