Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Texans spent the 69th overall pick on Joe Royer, a name the board had a full 28 spots lower. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Landing Roush that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Caleb Lomu
In the 28th pick they get a long-term starter on the line, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
Pick38 Rnd2 Christen Miller
Christen Miller in Round 2, Pick 6 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick59 Rnd2 Jadarian Price
A straight-up fair deal on Jadarian Price at No. 59, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick69 Rnd3 Joe Royer
Joe Royer at pick 69 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick106 Rnd4 Parker Brailsford
A reach on Parker Brailsford in pick No. 106; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick128 Rnd4 Kyle Louis
They paid up for Kyle Louis at the 128th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick165 Rnd5 Sam Roush
A quiet steal in slot 165: Sam Roush for less than the market said. The roster fit checks out.
Pick243 Rnd7 Micah Morris
They liked Micah Morris enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 243. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick244 Rnd7 Christian Gray
A big swing on Christian Gray at the 244th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
