austinrwilliams2005 DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Seahawks checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Quinn Ewers at Round 2, Pick 20 is 41 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Carter at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Tyler Booker
In the 18th pick they get protection for the quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50
Rnd2
Landon Jackson
Landon Jackson at pick 50 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick52
Rnd2
Quinn Ewers
This one needs a full-page explanation: Quinn Ewers in the Round 2 slot, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick82
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor at pick No. 82 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick92
Rnd3
Barrett Carter
The board had Barrett Carter higher than No. 92, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick137
Rnd4
Malachi Moore
They took Malachi Moore at par in the 137th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick172
Rnd5
RJ Harvey
They did well to land RJ Harvey in pick No. 172, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick175
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They paid a round early for Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 175th overall pick, more than the board wanted. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick223
Rnd7
Jabbar Muhammad
A reach on Jabbar Muhammad in the Round 7 slot; the board had better options right there. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick234
Rnd7
Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. at No. 234 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
