Draft Grade — Saints
Overall
B
ValueB-

TradesB-
FutureB-
The Saints cashed the board's mistake on Singleton Jr.: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Saints were there to profit. Eric Singleton Jr., the No. 77 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 4 slot. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
The Umanmielen pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
T.J. Parker
In pick No. 5 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick37
Rnd2
Chase Bisontis
They paid sticker price for Chase Bisontis in No. 37, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick69
Rnd3
Trey Holly
Trey Holly at Round 3, Pick 5 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick105
Rnd4
Eric Singleton Jr.
Somehow Eric Singleton Jr. was still sitting there in pick 105, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138
Rnd4
Princewill Umanmielen
They left a pile of value on the table to take Princewill Umanmielen this early at the Round 4 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick144
Rnd5
Xavier Scott
A quiet steal in the 144th pick: Xavier Scott for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick183
Rnd6
Aidan Chiles
Aidan Chiles in the 183rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
