Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Bears spent No. 241 on Carson Steele, a name the board had a full 62 spots lower. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.

They banked enough surplus on Sainristil to cover a lot of smaller sins. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
