Draft Grade — Ravens

A solid, sensible weekend for the Ravens: B-. The Charles Jagusah selection is the head-turner. The Ravens reached 50 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Davis. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
Peter Woods
In pick No. 7 they get a premier pass rusher. A real need, handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Caleb Lomu
Caleb Lomu at the 41st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick72
Rnd3
Charles Jagusah
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Charles Jagusah. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick107
Rnd4
Demond Claiborne
A big swing on Demond Claiborne at No. 107, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick141
Rnd5
Tacario Davis
Tacario Davis in pick 141 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick149
Rnd5
Zane Durant
Value said wait; Zane Durant in the Round 5 slot says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick162
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
A tidy little value on Max Iheanachor in pick 162, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick174
Rnd5
Duce Robinson
Duce Robinson at No. 174 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick175
Rnd5
Patrick Payton
Patrick Payton at the 175th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
Pick251
Rnd7
Brett Norfleet
Brett Norfleet in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
