FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Ravens, and a B to prove it. There is reaching, and then there is Julien Simon at slot 244. The Ravens jumped the board by 100 and dared it to prove them wrong.
Landing Everette that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Caleb Banks
In the 32nd pick they get a premier pass rusher, though they paid up to get him.
Pick63
Rnd2
Nicholas Singleton
A straight-up fair deal on Nicholas Singleton at Round 2, Pick 31, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick95
Rnd3
Monroe Freeling
By-the-book stuff, Monroe Freeling at slot 95 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick96
Rnd3
Lee Hunter
A real head-scratcher, Lee Hunter in No. 96 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick132
Rnd4
Daylen Everette
A cornerback of that caliber at pick 132 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick170
Rnd5
Khalil Barnes
Khalil Barnes in the 170th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick172
Rnd5
Tristan Leigh
They paid up for Tristan Leigh at Round 5, Pick 34 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick175
Rnd5
Jordan White
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jordan White. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick209
Rnd6
Lawson Luckie
Lawson Luckie in No. 209 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick222
Rnd7
Cormani McClain
Value said wait; Cormani McClain in the 222nd pick says they were not listening. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick244
Rnd7
Julien Simon
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Julien Simon well ahead of where he belonged. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick246
Rnd7
Kyron Drones
They reached into another round for Kyron Drones, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
