Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB+
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Ravens a B. The Ravens put a flag in the ground for Shaun Dolac, 128 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They banked enough surplus on Alexander to cover a lot of smaller sins. Spending an early pick on specialist with quarterback and tight end open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver, outstanding value to boot.
Pick61
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at No. 61 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick91
Rnd3
Ashton Gillotte
Ashton Gillotte in Round 3, Pick 27 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick128
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander at pick 128 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick129
Rnd4
Joshua Farmer
The board had Joshua Farmer higher than slot 129, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick136
Rnd4
Andres Borregales
Of all the spots to shop, they chose specialist. Andres Borregales in the 136th pick leaves quarterback and tight end for later.
Pick176
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
They will replay Bhayshul Tuten at Round 5, Pick 38 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick183
Rnd6
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius in pick 183 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick203
Rnd6
Addison West
They liked Addison West enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 6 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick210
Rnd6
Shaun Dolac
Shaun Dolac at pick No. 210 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick243
Rnd7
Isas Waxter
They reached a country mile for Isas Waxter at the 243rd pick, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick251
Rnd7
Davin Vann
They talked themselves into Davin Vann at slot 251, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick257
Rnd7
Zeek Biggers
Zeek Biggers at the 257th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
