Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Ravens.

There is reaching, and then there is Kage Casey at the Round 3 slot. The Ravens jumped the board by 43 and dared it to prove them wrong. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

Hill Jr. falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Anthony Hill Jr.
In the 31st pick they get a three-down second-level presence at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick63 Rnd2 Suntarine Perkins
A straight-up fair deal on Suntarine Perkins at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick95 Rnd3 Kage Casey
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kage Casey well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick131 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
They paid sticker price for DeMonte Capehart in No. 131, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick143 Rnd5 Jamal Haynes
Jamal Haynes at slot 143 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick170 Rnd5 Xavier Scott
Xavier Scott at pick 170 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick172 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at Round 5, Pick 34 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick175 Rnd5 Tristan Leigh
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tristan Leigh. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick244 Rnd7 Trey Leckner
Value with a capital V on Trey Leckner in the 244th pick, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick246 Rnd7 Johntay Cook II
Johntay Cook II in the 246th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
