Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Ravens. Nobody had Shaun Dolac this high, and it is not close. The Ravens reached 155 spots to get him at the 183rd overall pick. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
It is not that Borregales is a bad player; it is that the Ravens had louder needs to answer first. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Tuten. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
The board had Matthew Golden higher than pick No. 27, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick59
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
They read the board right and Aireontae Ersery was the payoff at the 59th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91
Rnd3
Deone Walker
Nothing to complain about; Deone Walker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick129
Rnd4
Tyler Baron
Tyler Baron in No. 129 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick136
Rnd4
Andres Borregales
A curious use of the Round 4 slot. Quarterback and tight end needed the pick; a specialist in Andres Borregales did not.
Pick176
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Bhayshul Tuten in slot 176, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick183
Rnd6
Shaun Dolac
A wild overpay on Shaun Dolac in pick 183, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick203
Rnd6
Aydan White
Value said wait; Aydan White in pick No. 203 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick210
Rnd6
Hayden Conner
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Hayden Conner. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick212
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at slot 212 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick243
Rnd7
Isas Waxter
Isas Waxter in the 243rd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
