austinrwilliams2005 DRAFTING FOR THERavens
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Ravens. The Ravens banked a tidy surplus when Jaylin Lane lasted to Round 4, Pick 34, a few spots past his grade. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Mickens reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Derrick Harmon
In pick No. 27 they get a wrecking ball inside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick59
Rnd2
Marcus Mbow
They let Marcus Mbow come to them and pounced at the 59th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
They paid sticker price for Jordan Burch in pick 91, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick129
Rnd4
Brashard Smith
Brashard Smith in the 129th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick136
Rnd4
Jaylin Lane
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jaylin Lane at No. 136 is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick176
Rnd5
Elijah Roberts
Elijah Roberts at the Round 5 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick183
Rnd6
Connor Colby
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Connor Colby. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick203
Rnd6
R.J. Mickens
They went early on R.J. Mickens in the 203rd overall pick, and the value did not follow. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick210
Rnd6
Robert Longerbeam
Robert Longerbeam in Round 6, Pick 34 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick212
Rnd6
Kobe Hudson
No drama and no debate, Kobe Hudson went about where he belonged in slot 212. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick243
Rnd7
CJ Dippre
A straight-up fair deal on CJ Dippre at pick No. 243, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
