Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B+
ValueA+ NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
Sapp should have been long gone. The Ravens pounced, and earned a B+.

Somebody in the 246th pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Ravens sat still while Tyreak Sapp, the No. 30 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.

On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Francis Mauigoa
In pick No. 32 they get an anchor for the offensive line at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick70 Rnd3 Spencer Fano
You do not let an offensive lineman like Spencer Fano reach Round 3, Pick 6 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick95 Rnd3 Jeremiyah Love
The board fumbled Jeremiyah Love all the way to the Round 3 slot, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Pick96 Rnd3 LT Overton
They will replay LT Overton at the 96th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick106 Rnd4 Cayden Green
Cayden Green at pick 106 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick131 Rnd4 Jermod McCoy
Jermod McCoy in slot 131 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick143 Rnd5 Avieon Terrell
A cornerback of that caliber at the 143rd pick is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick170 Rnd5 Zane Durant
Circle this one: Zane Durant at No. 170 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick172 Rnd5 Cade Klubnik
Cade Klubnik in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick175 Rnd5 Eric Singleton Jr.
Eric Singleton Jr. at pick 175 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
Pick244 Rnd7 Michael Taaffe
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Michael Taaffe in slot 244, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick246 Rnd7 Tyreak Sapp
Tyreak Sapp in the 246th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
