The Ravens did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The Ravens went off the board in a big way for Solomon Tuliaupupu, 101 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
On value alone, Love makes the weekend a net positive. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Anthony Hill Jr.
In the 31st overall pick they get a three-down second-level presence, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick63
Rnd2
Jeremiyah Love
Jeremiyah Love at pick 63 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick102
Rnd3
Caleb Tiernan
Caleb Tiernan at slot 102 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick131
Rnd4
Kage Casey
Kage Casey at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick141
Rnd5
Jalen Thompson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen Thompson well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick143
Rnd5
Bear Alexander
A wild overpay on Bear Alexander in pick No. 143, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick170
Rnd5
Solomon Tuliaupupu
Solomon Tuliaupupu at pick No. 170 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick171
Rnd5
DJ McKinney
DJ McKinney in the 171st overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick172
Rnd5
Jamari Lyons
Jamari Lyons at No. 172 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick175
Rnd5
Dominic Zvada
Dominic Zvada at Round 5, Pick 37 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick215
Rnd6
Lawson Luckie
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Lawson Luckie in slot 215. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jehiem Oatis
Value said wait; Jehiem Oatis in the Round 7 slot says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick246
Rnd7
Javien Toviano
They robbed the room for Javien Toviano here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
