Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A passer of the future in Klubnik, and a B-, for the Ravens.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Ravens reached some 99 spots for Julien Simon, and value like that does not grow back. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

Whatever Cade Klubnik becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Getting Klubnik where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Cade Klubnik
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get the arm they will build around, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick63 Rnd2 Caleb Tiernan
Caleb Tiernan at the 63rd overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick95 Rnd3 Chase Bisontis
They went early on Chase Bisontis in slot 95, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick131 Rnd4 Patrick Payton
They talked themselves into Patrick Payton at pick 131, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Pick143 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Jermaine Mathews Jr. at pick No. 143 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick170 Rnd5 Bear Alexander
Bear Alexander in the Round 5 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick172 Rnd5 A'Marion Peterson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, A'Marion Peterson well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick175 Rnd5 Ethan Onianwa
Ethan Onianwa in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick244 Rnd7 Shamar Porter
The board had Shamar Porter higher than pick 244, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Pick246 Rnd7 Julien Simon
They reached into another round for Julien Simon, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
