Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Ravens a B-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Dominic Zvada at Round 7, Pick 36, a reach of 30 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Bowry steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick7
Rnd1
A.J. Harris
The board had cheaper options than A.J. Harris at No. 7, and it noticed. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
David Bailey
A tidy little value on David Bailey in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
Pick72
Rnd3
Colton Hood
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Colton Hood. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick107
Rnd4
Xavier Scott
Xavier Scott in pick 107 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick141
Rnd5
Jude Bowry
Jude Bowry slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 1 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick149
Rnd5
Logan Jones
Logan Jones at slot 149 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick162
Rnd5
Isaac Smith
Isaac Smith in slot 162 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jaydn Ott
By-the-book stuff, Jaydn Ott at No. 174 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick175
Rnd5
Xavier Nwankpa
No drama and no debate, Xavier Nwankpa went about where he belonged in pick 175. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick251
Rnd7
Dominic Zvada
Dominic Zvada at the 251st pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
