Chaim34 DRAFTING FOR THEPatriots
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall

FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Patriots: C+. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Patriots would have aced it. Jack Endries at pick 29 is 78 spots clear of where he belonged. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
It grades out a shrug today, with plenty of room to move either way.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Jack Endries
In slot 29 they get a mismatch in the passing game, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick62
Rnd2
Malik Muhammad
They paid sticker price for Malik Muhammad in No. 62, and that is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick93
Rnd3
Zion Young
A straight-up fair deal on Zion Young at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick118
Rnd4
Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham in the 118th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick130
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Parker Brailsford. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick169
Rnd5
Darius Taylor
No drama and no debate, Darius Taylor went about where he belonged in Round 5, Pick 29. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick198
Rnd6
Rasheem Biles
They took Rasheem Biles at par in Round 6, Pick 17, which is nothing to complain about. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick211
Rnd6
Trebor Pena
Trebor Pena at pick No. 211 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick216
Rnd7
Adepoju Adebawore
Adepoju Adebawore at slot 216 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick244
Rnd7
Fernando Carmona
Fernando Carmona in No. 244 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
