Larceny in the 88th pick lands the Jaguars a B, Hunter and all. The rest of the league will want that one back. Lee Hunter tumbling to the Jaguars in the 88th overall pick is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Sapp pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick56
Rnd2
Anthony Hill Jr.
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick81
Rnd3
Keith Abney II
Taking Keith Abney II in No. 81 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick88
Rnd3
Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter at Round 3, Pick 24 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick100
Rnd3
Kamari Ramsey
Steal is underselling it; Kamari Ramsey at pick No. 100 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick124
Rnd4
Tyreak Sapp
Tyreak Sapp in the 124th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick164
Rnd5
Demond Claiborne
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Demond Claiborne. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick166
Rnd5
Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts at slot 166 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick233
Rnd7
Riley Nowakowski
They read the board right and Riley Nowakowski was the payoff at pick 233. The roster fit checks out.
Pick240
Rnd7
Aiden Fisher
The board had Aiden Fisher higher than the Round 7 slot, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick245
Rnd7
Zavion Thomas
They barely believed it either: Zavion Thomas still on the board at Round 7, Pick 29. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
