Draft Grade — Lions
Overall B-

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Lions: B-.

The war room fell hard for Bryce Foster, and it showed at pick 91: 61 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

However the rest shakes out, Humphreys at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 LT Overton
In slot 27 they get a double-digit-sack hope, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick59 Rnd2 Matayo Uiagalelei
No drama and no debate, Matayo Uiagalelei went about where he belonged in the 59th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick91 Rnd3 Bryce Foster
Value said wait; Bryce Foster in Round 3, Pick 27 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick100 Rnd3 Patrick Payton
Patrick Payton at the Round 3 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick127 Rnd4 Antonio Kite
Nothing to complain about; Antonio Kite went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick166 Rnd5 Austin Siereveld
They paid up for Austin Siereveld at No. 166 when waiting would have done the job. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick205 Rnd6 London Humphreys
A wide receiver of that caliber at the 205th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick240 Rnd7 Khalil Barnes
They took Khalil Barnes at par in the 240th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick255 Rnd7 Malik Spencer
Malik Spencer in slot 255 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
