Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall
B+
ValueA+
NeedB+
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Eagles let Ward fall into their laps, and walked away with a B+. The Eagles did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cam Ward fell into slot 168. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
Travis Hunter in the 32nd pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick64
Rnd2
Armand Membou
Taking Armand Membou in the 64th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick96
Rnd3
Walter Nolen
The board fumbled Walter Nolen all the way to slot 96, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick134
Rnd4
Josaiah Stewart
Josaiah Stewart in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick161
Rnd5
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo in pick 161 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick164
Rnd5
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at Round 5, Pick 26 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick165
Rnd5
Sebastian Castro
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Sebastian Castro in pick No. 165, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick168
Rnd5
Cam Ward
They will replay Cam Ward at No. 168 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
