Larceny in the Round 4 slot lands the Eagles a B, Fontenette and all.

When a board-topper like Randon Fontenette slides to pick 130, you do not overthink it, and the Eagles did not.

For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Velling lower, and that gap is the story.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Anthony Hill Jr.
In pick 30 they get the heartbeat of the defense, outstanding value to boot. Need was not the driver here.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jalen Thompson
They paid up for Jalen Thompson at No. 62 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick94 Rnd3 Rico Flores Jr.
They took Rico Flores Jr. at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99 Rnd3 Peter Woods
Peter Woods in the 99th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick130 Rnd4 Randon Fontenette
A safety of that caliber at slot 130 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick136 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at Round 4, Pick 34 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick159 Rnd5 Carson Beck
Carson Beck in the 159th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick169 Rnd5 Ricardo Hallman
They did well to land Ricardo Hallman in pick No. 169, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick178 Rnd6 Jack Velling
Jack Velling in the Round 6 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick243 Rnd7 TJ Ferguson
They paid sticker price for TJ Ferguson in pick 243, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
