@bengbills DRAFTING FOR THEBills

Draft Grade — Bills

The Bills cashed the board's mistake on Franklin: B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Bills were there to profit. Troy Franklin, the No. 33 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 2, Pick 28. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Murphy proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Brian Thomas Jr.
In slot 28 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin at pick 60 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick128
Rnd4
Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at pick No. 128 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick134
Rnd4
Beau Brade
No drama and no debate, Beau Brade went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick144
Rnd5
Jarrian Jones
Nice patience on Jarrian Jones, who had no business lasting to No. 144. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick160
Rnd5
Dillon Johnson
Dillon Johnson at the 160th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick163
Rnd5
Grayson Murphy
Grayson Murphy in the 163rd overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick189
Rnd6
Myles Cole
The board had cheaper options than Myles Cole at Round 6, Pick 14, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick200
Rnd6
Daijun Edwards
Daijun Edwards slipping to slot 200 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
