austinrwilliams2005 DRAFTING FOR THEBuccaneers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Buccaneers
Overall
C+
ValueC
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Some hits, some head-scratchers, and a C+ for the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the Round 7 slot on Brady Cook a full 50 spots early. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They banked enough surplus on Arroyo to cover a lot of smaller sins. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with tight end the one that mattered most.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick Analysis
Pick19
Rnd1
Jihaad Campbell
In pick 19 they get a three-down second-level presence, a steep price for the projection. Need was not the driver here.
Pick53
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau at No. 53 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick84
Rnd3
Elijah Arroyo
Elijah Arroyo is a better player than pick No. 84 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick121
Rnd4
Cobee Bryant
They paid sticker price for Cobee Bryant in slot 121, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick157
Rnd5
Tyler Baron
No edge and no loss on Tyler Baron in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick235
Rnd7
Brady Cook
A big swing on Brady Cook at the 235th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
