Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Broncos.

The tape said wait; the Broncos did not. Thomas Collins went at pick 251, a good 61 picks before the board was ready. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Job largely done: linebacker settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
Denzel Boston in No. 30 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick62 Rnd2 Darrell Jackson Jr.
They paid sticker price for Darrell Jackson Jr. in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Joe Royer
Joe Royer at pick 94 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick103 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
They took Harold Perkins Jr. at par in the 103rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick130 Rnd4 Jude Bowry
A reach for Jude Bowry in Round 4, Pick 30; a little patience would have been rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick170 Rnd5 Connor Tollison
By-the-book stuff, Connor Tollison at the 170th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick245 Rnd7 De'Zhaun Stribling
Nothing to complain about; De'Zhaun Stribling went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick251 Rnd7 Thomas Collins
They reached a country mile for Thomas Collins at No. 251, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick252 Rnd7 Malachi Nelson
Malachi Nelson in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
