Draft Grade — Browns

FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Browns to a D-. The Browns did not so much draft Dallin Holker as overpay for him, 38 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The David Bakhtiari deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick44
Rnd2
Malachi Corley
The board had cheaper options than Malachi Corley at slot 44, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick58
Rnd2
Ja'Lynn Polk
A reach on Ja'Lynn Polk in No. 58; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick77
Rnd3
Trey Benson
They paid up for Trey Benson at pick No. 77 when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Pick85
Rnd3
Cedric Gray
They reached a country mile for Cedric Gray at the 85th overall pick, and the board is aghast. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick112
Rnd4
Dallin Holker
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dallin Holker in the Round 4 slot, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick148
Rnd5
Isaiah Davis
They went early on Isaiah Davis in the 148th pick, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick156
Rnd5
Jacob Cowing
Value with a capital V on Jacob Cowing in Round 5, Pick 20, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick206
Rnd6
Nathaniel Watson
Nathaniel Watson in slot 206 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick243
Rnd7
Daijahn Anthony
Daijahn Anthony at the 243rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
