Draft Grade — Bears
Overall F
ValueB- NeedB- TradesF FutureF
The Bears overdrafted Rice and paid the price. Grade: F.

Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.

Rice has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. With running back, cornerback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on S-EDGE is the choice that costs them.

For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with running back still staring back at them.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In pick No. 6 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick27 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in slot 27 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick30 Rnd1 Ladd McConkey
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ladd McConkey. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick36 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
By-the-book stuff, Chop Robinson at the 36th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick39 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
Value with a capital V on Tyler Nubin in No. 39, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick40 Rnd2 Brenden Rice
Value said wait; Brenden Rice in the 40th pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick62 Rnd2 Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson at slot 111 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick123 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at pick 123 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick131 Rnd4 Luke McCaffrey
They went early on Luke McCaffrey in Round 4, Pick 31, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick134 Rnd4 Jalyx Hunt
A want over a need in the 134th pick: Jalyx Hunt adds a S-EDGE while running back, cornerback and other spots keeps waiting.
