The 49ers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

The tape said wait; the 49ers did not. Isaiah World went at No. 92, a good 46 picks before the board was ready. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

They banked enough surplus on Trigg to cover a lot of smaller sins. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Lee Hunter
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptive interior force, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Elijah Sarratt
A tidy bit of business in slot 58, where Elijah Sarratt graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92 Rnd3 Isaiah World
They reached into another round for Isaiah World, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick127 Rnd4 Nadame Tucker
Nadame Tucker in No. 127 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
Pick133 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Michael Trigg at pick 133 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick138 Rnd4 Beau Stephens
Beau Stephens in the 138th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick171 Rnd5 Pat Coogan
A wild overpay on Pat Coogan in the Round 5 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
