FutureB
The Eagles checked most of the boxes and earned a B. The war room fell hard for JJ Pegues, and it showed at No. 165: 20 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Stutsman at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick44
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
No drama and no debate, JT Tuimoloau went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 12. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick64
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
A quiet steal in No. 64: Alfred Collins for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick96
Rnd3
Danny Stutsman
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Danny Stutsman in slot 96. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick108
Rnd4
Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson at pick 108 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick134
Rnd4
Jackson Slater
Jackson Slater in pick No. 134 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick161
Rnd5
Jake Briningstool
The board had cheaper options than Jake Briningstool at the 161st pick, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick164
Rnd5
Tommi Hill
Tommi Hill at pick No. 164 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick165
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues at the 165th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick204
Rnd6
Caleb Rogers
They did well to land Caleb Rogers in the 204th pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick212
Rnd6
Caleb Ransaw
Nothing to complain about; Caleb Ransaw went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick239
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris slipping to Round 7, Pick 23 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
