Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA FutureA+
Good, not great, for the Jets: B+.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the Round 5 slot, a good 38 spots before the room expected him.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Winston Jr.. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Adding Christian Kirk by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In the 25th overall pick they get a red-zone target to build around, and a steal at that.
Pick42 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams in the 42nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick73 Rnd3 Ozzy Trapilo
A reach for Ozzy Trapilo in pick 73; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick86 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
The board had cheaper options than Jalen Milroe at slot 86, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick110 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
A tidy bit of business in No. 110, where Kevin Winston Jr. graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick145 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A wild overpay on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in Round 5, Pick 7, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick158 Rnd5 Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt at slot 158 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick162 Rnd5 Ben Sauls
They paid sticker price for Ben Sauls in the 162nd overall pick, and that is fine. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick166 Rnd5 CJ West
CJ West at pick 166 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick186 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
A premium they did not need to pay, Oronde Gadsden II a notch or two before his time. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick207 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at the Round 6 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
