FutureB
Grand theft in Round 4, Pick 28: the Eagles steal Stutsman and grade out a B. You could see the war room lean forward. Danny Stutsman at the 129th overall pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Ivey pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
Nice patience on Tyler Warren, who had no business lasting to Round 1, Pick 32. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick64
Rnd2
Jared Ivey
They paid up for Jared Ivey at pick 64 when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick100
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Charles Grant at the Round 3 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick129
Rnd4
Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman in No. 129 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick166
Rnd5
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley at the 166th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick167
Rnd5
JJ Pegues
A reach for JJ Pegues in pick No. 167; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick192
Rnd6
Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin at slot 192 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick210
Rnd6
Kobe Hudson
Value with a capital V on Kobe Hudson in the 210th overall pick, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick243
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
You do not let an offensive lineman like Hayden Conner reach pick 243 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
