Draft Grade — Saints
Overall
B

FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Saints: B. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Saints took Andrew Armstrong a full 52 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In slot 14 they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
Circle this one: Nick Emmanwori at the 40th pick is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick45
Rnd2
Trey Amos
No drama and no debate, Trey Amos went about where he belonged in No. 45. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick71
Rnd3
Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in Round 3, Pick 7 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick93
Rnd3
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in pick No. 93 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick112
Rnd4
Kyle McCord
They paid sticker price for Kyle McCord in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick131
Rnd4
Jamaree Caldwell
By-the-book stuff, Jamaree Caldwell at No. 131 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
Pick184
Rnd6
Nick Nash
Nick Nash in pick No. 184 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick248
Rnd7
Andrew Armstrong
Andrew Armstrong at the 248th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick254
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
A reach for Hayden Conner in the 254th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
