You build a draft on nights like this. Ryan Fitzgerald had no business being available in No. 189, and the 49ers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

Every board in the league had Rucker lower, and that gap is the story. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.

The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
