FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Cowboys. Nobody else had Donovan Smith anywhere near the 211th pick. The Cowboys did, by 44 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Webb pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
Tetairoa McMillan in No. 12 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick53
Rnd2
Trey Amos
Trey Amos at pick No. 53 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick76
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins slid further than he should have, and the 76th pick is lovely value for the running back. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick84
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott slipping to Round 3, Pick 20 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick149
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
They paid sticker price for Bhayshul Tuten in pick 149, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at slot 171 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick174
Rnd5
Jalen McLeod
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jalen McLeod. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick204
Rnd6
Clay Webb
Clay Webb at the Round 6 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick211
Rnd6
Donovan Smith
A big swing on Donovan Smith at pick No. 211, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick239
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
Bilhal Kone at No. 239 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick247
Rnd7
Kitan Crawford
Kitan Crawford in the 247th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
