Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Sampson should have been long gone. The Jaguars pounced, and earned a B.

Somebody in pick 178 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Jaguars sat still while Dylan Sampson, the No. 52 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Nick Emmanwori in Round 2, Pick 2, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick65 Rnd3 Jahdae Barron
Jahdae Barron at No. 65 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick92 Rnd3 Malaki Starks
Circle this one: Malaki Starks at pick 92 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
Pick103 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
Taking Smael Mondon Jr. in pick No. 103 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick128 Rnd4 Kalel Mullings
Kalel Mullings in slot 128 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick139 Rnd5 Kaleb Johnson
They barely believed it either: Kaleb Johnson still on the board at the 139th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick178 Rnd6 Dylan Sampson
Somehow Dylan Sampson was still sitting there in the 178th pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick192 Rnd6 Quinshon Judkins
They will replay Quinshon Judkins at pick 192 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick216 Rnd7 Tahj Brooks
They robbed the room for Tahj Brooks here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
