Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureC-
A passer of the future in Williams, and a D+, for the Bears.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Bears shredded theirs for Maason Smith. He came off 37 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Caleb Williams gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Hart pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In slot 1 they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick17 Rnd1 Chop Robinson
In Round 1, Pick 17 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick25 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In No. 25 they get a true top target. A real need, handled.
Pick41 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan in the 41st pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick58 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick74 Rnd3 Maason Smith
Maason Smith at pick 74 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick122 Rnd4 Cam Hart
Cam Hart at slot 122 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
