Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureA
The Jets cashed the board's mistake on Nolen: B.

Somebody in the Round 2 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Jets sat still while Walter Nolen, the No. 20 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Every board in the league had Jackson lower, and that gap is the story.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In the 14th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
Pick42 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
They will replay Walter Nolen at the Round 2 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick73 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
No drama and no debate, Mason Taylor went about where he belonged in pick 73. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick110 Rnd4 Tory Horton
Tory Horton in the 110th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick117 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
They let Lathan Ransom come to them and pounced at No. 117. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick145 Rnd5 Kaimon Rucker
They paid sticker price for Kaimon Rucker in slot 145, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick162 Rnd5 Ajani Cornelius
They went early on Ajani Cornelius in pick No. 162, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick186 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Nothing to complain about; Dont'e Thornton Jr. went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick207 Rnd6 Cam Jackson
A wild overpay on Cam Jackson in No. 207, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
